I would like to thank Captain David Woodman for carefully reading my two books ‘Franklin’s Fate’ and ‘Trapped’ and for corresponding on a number of topics. Captain Woodman read the books together to match the chapters against Inuit testimony and to identify in ‘Trapped’ those chapters that are fiction. The latter was mainly in the account of the ice throwing over ‘HMS Terror’, briefly described in Inuit testimony, but taken from Sir Ernest Shackleton’s account of the loss of his ship ‘Endurance’ in the Weddell Sea in 1915.
